EDWARD JUNIOR “BUD” HARDY, age 79 years, a resident of Hambleton, WV departed this life Friday morning, January 15, 2010 at his home. He had been in declining health.
He was born Wednesday, March 14, 1930 at Porterwood, WV, a son of the late Roy Ames and Iva Belle Gordon Hardy. On Nov. 13, 1954 at Parsons, WV, he was married to the former Lulabelle Sponaugle, who survives. They had celebrated fifty five years of marriage.
Also surviving are two sons, Edward Wayne Hardy and wife Debbie of Elkview, WV, David Craig Hardy of Hambleton; two daughters, Lana Christine Graber and husband Randy of Bolivar, OH, and Donna Jean Poling of Parsons; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by five brothers, Jessie Dempsey Hardy, Charlie Lee Hardy, Roy Cecil Hardy, Robert Doyle Hardy and Amos Monroe “Smiley” Hardy; five sisters, Marian Dale Johnson, Annie Lee Wallen, Goldie Marie Hardy, Mary Louise Hardy and Bertha Viola Parsons; and one grandson, Joshua Scott Poling.
He attended the one room school at Pheasant. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a former employee of the Lattavo Brothers Trucking Co, in Ohio for fifteen yrs, and he was a Heavy Equipment Operator for the West Virginia Dept of Highways, retiring in 1992. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to ride motorcycles and his Jeep and he tinkered with small equipment.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday from 4 to 7 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 1:30PM. Pastor’s Robert Leard and Adam Snyder will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
