Edward Sandusky 1909-2002 Obituary
Edward Sandusky, 92, a resident of Volga, passed away at 2:19 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital at Parkersburg.
He was born Oct. 23, 1909, in Barbour County, a son of the late John and Emaline Martinkus Sandusky.
He was united in marriage on March 8, 1941, to the former Wilma Berniece Thompson, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Melody Ann Sandusky and very special friend, Gary Siegrist, Parkersburg, and Cindy Faye and Thomas Sandusky Sinsel, Perkasie, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Lawrence and Patricia Eileen Kay Sandusky and Edward Floyd “Skip” and Louise Zirkle Green Sandusky, all of Philippi; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Jane Sandusky Alexander, James Lawrence and wife, Brandi Dawn Morrison Sandusky, Kelli Suzanne Sandusky, Eric Jonathan and wife, Tara Price Sandusky, Marc Sandusky, Joshua Wayne and wife, Jennifer Beers Sinsel, Jason Patrick and wife, Heather Peuplie Sinsel and Matthew Lee Sinsel; one stepgrandson, William David Green; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, William Edward Sandusky; two brothers, John Sandusky and Clemence Sandusky; two sisters, Emaline Sandusky and Sophia Sandusky Winslow; and one grandson, Matthew James Sandusky.
He retired in 1972 as an electrician for Bethlehem Steel.
He was a former member of the Barbour County Sportsman Club and the Volga Ruritan Club, where he held various offices.
He was a graduate of the University of Hard Knocks.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers, District 31. He was affiliated with the Queen’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 4 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Robert “Buck” True and the Rev. Linda Payton officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
