Edward T. “Ed” Wasmer Sr., 84, of Parkersburg, and formerly of Pickens, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Wasmer was born Nov. 2, 1917, in Pickens, a son of the late Paul A. and Margaret Jones Wasmer.
He married Mary Ruth Bonner Wasmer, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Edward T. Wasmer Jr., Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Edward T. “Pete” Wasmer III and Ricky W. Wasmer, both of Parkersburg, and Tammy Marie Harper, Clarksburg; four great-grandchildren, Britton Wasmer, Corey Harper, Beau Wasmer and Cheylan Wasmer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Nelson, Paul, John, Clarence and Otto Wasmer; and five sisters, May Hefner, Hannah Sypolt, Mary Hull, Margaret Kennedy and Eileen Vincent.
Mr. Wasmer retired from Kaiser Aluminum. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 122 and a member of the Baptist Temple.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Home in Buckhannon on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Eugene Helmick officiating. Interment will follow in Pickens Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 3663 and the American Legion Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 AF & AM of Buckhannon.
