Eldon Commodore Riegel 1934-2022 Obituary
Eldon Commodore Riegel, age 87 years, a resident of Mabie, passed away early Friday morning, March 18, 2022 in the West Virginia Caring Hospice Center in Elkins. He was born September 18, 1934 at Elkins, a son of the late Rev. Paul Riegel and Annie Mae Brain Riegel. On May 5, 1972, he was married to the former Lois Kay Rowan who survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Sherry Pratt and husband Robert of Clarksburg; a daughter-in-law, Carla Riegel of Mill Creek and a sister-in-law, Shirley Riegel of Maryland. Two grandchildren, Jonathan Mark Riegel of Mill Creek and Karrah Renee Washington of Elkins and three great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by two sons, Eldon Mark “Biggen” Riegel and Marty Riegel; four brothers, Ralph Emerson Riegel, Rev. Paul Revere Riegel, Macil Wayne Riegel and Margel Maurice Riegel. Eldon was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked for many years as a lead cutter at the Reidbord Brothers Plant of Elkins. He was a Methodist by faith.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Rock Cemetery at Mill Creek where presentation of the American flag will be accorded by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program. Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be made to West Virginia Caring, P. O. Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520 in memory of Eldon. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Eldon Commodore Riegel.
