Eldon Simpkins Dean 1928-2001 Obituary
Eldon Simpkins Dean, 72, of Prospect died Tuesday morning at Autumn Grove Care Center, Harrisville.
Born July 21, 1928, in Evenwood, W.Va., he was the son of Henry Clay Dean and Rosie Mae Simpkins Dean.
He had worked on a natural gas well drilling team in Randolph County, W.Va.
Then he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked for Mooney Chemical Co., the Upton-Walton Co. and retired from WLS Stamping Co. in 1992.
Mr. Dean was a Protestant.
He served with the Army from 1951 to 1953 and was a staff sergeant in the Army Reserves until 1956.
He is survived by a nephew, George Ratzer of Franklin and a niece, Mrs. William (Margaret) White of Prospect, who also were his primary caregivers.
Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
Also surviving are a brother, Amon Dean; and a sister, Phoebe Ann O’dell of Hiwassee, Va.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Friends of Eldon Simpkins Dean, who died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Lohr & Barb, Vance Funeral Home, Elkins, W.Va.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Alpena Cemetery, West Virginia.
