Emma Ellet Hamrick Rhodes, 86, a resident of Glady, and more recently a resident of Nella’s Incorporated at Crystal Springs, departed this life Sunday evening, Oct. 6, 2002, at the nursing home. Death was attributed to heart failure.
She was born April 5, 1916, at Bergoo, a daughter of the late Zettie Hamrick.
On March 18, 1939, at Elkins, she was married to Charles Oley Rhodes, who preceded her in death on May 24, 1970.
Surviving are six sons, Earl Rhodes, French Creek, Forrest Rhodes, Bryon, Ga., Willie Rhodes, Fairmont, Harry Rhodes, Pennsylvania, Ralph Rhodes, Ohio, and Ronald Rhodes, New York; three daughters, Alice “Tootie” Shiflett, Emma Jean Mussi and Rose Anna Rhodes; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Georgia Lorraine Rhodes; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She attended the schools of Webster County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Glady Church of the Brethren.
Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Thursday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Walter H. Blough will officiate and interment will follow in Glady Cemetery at Glady.
