EMMA LENA HUMPHREY WAYBRIGHT, age 78 years, a resident of Beverly, WV departed this life Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV.
She was born Saturday, August 20, 1932 at St. George, WV a daughter of the late Fitzhugh Humphrey and Bessie K. Rhodes Humphrey. On October 20, 1947 at Oakland, MD she was married to Harold B. Waybright, who preceded her in death August 4, 1991. Surviving are two sons, Roger L. Waybright and wife Felipa, Houston, TX; John C. Waybright and wife Shellie, Elkins; one daughter, Joyce E. Pudder and husband Troy, Harding; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death are one son Harold “Buzz” Waybright, Jr. three brothers, Floyd “Boots”; Charles; and Ellis Parker Humphrey and six sisters, Ruth Evans; Lucille Humphrey; Olive Marie Humphrey; Ardenia Wilson; Erma Jean Stahl; and Phillippine Louise Waybright.
She attended the schools of Tucker County, and worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Davis Memorial Hospital from which she retired. She was a member of the Elkins Randolph County Senior Center and the First Church of Christ. She loved working in her flower gardens and spending time with family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Wednesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 12:30 PM. Minister Michael Courtwright and Evangelist Gary L. Kendall, Sr. will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
