Ernest R. Black, 99, a resident of the Tennerton community near Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born Sept. 11, 1903, in Upshur County, the son of the late Granville Dexter and Hester Florence Tenney Black.
On April 16, 1933, he was married to Nora E. Veith Black, who preceded him in death on June 28, 2002.
Surviving are one daughter, Bonnie B. Cartier, Queens; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Mr. Black was a member of the Sago Baptist Church and was a lumber grader and carpenter.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Wease Day will officiate and interment will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park.
