Eva Mae Nelson Parsons 1934-2015 Obituary
Eva Mae Nelson Parsons, 80, a resident of Thomas, passed from this life Monday, March 2, 2015 at Cortland Acres Nursing home in Thomas.
Mae was born Monday, March 26, 1934 in Dry Fork, a daughter of the late Corbert Nelson and Flossie Polly Nelson.
She had been married twice, first to Raymond James Helmick and then to Homer Mace Parsons, Jr., both preceded her in death.
Left to cherish Mae’s memory are seven children, Jackson Helmick and companion Joyce of Parsons, James Helmick and wife Stacy of New Martinsville, Keith Helmick and wife Teresa of Hambleton, Wanda Trader and husband Fred of Parsons, Homer Parsons and wife Linda of OH, Russell Parsons of Parsons and Chrystle Bolyard of Grafton, two daughters in law, Helen Paugh of Parsons and Carol Helmick of New Martinsville, nineteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and her favorite chihuahua, Tootsie.
Preceding Mae in death besides her parents and husbands were two sons, Ralph W. Helmick and Junior Dale Helmick, two brothers, Franklin D. Nelson and John N. Nelson and one sister, Freda Kerns.
Mae attended the schools of Randolph County and had been employed as a saleswoman for Avon. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed tending to her roses and flower garden.
Mae loved spending time with her grandchildren and reading her bible. She was a Methodist by faith and a member of the Free Methodist Church of Hendricks.
Visitation will be held at the Summerfield Funeral Home in Parsons on Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11AM. Pastor Adam Carr will officiate and interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows.
