I originally envisioned my Crystal Radio experiments would progress from simple radios to more advance radios, but my experiments with the Fox Hole Radios were actually a step toward absolute simplicity.
These radios were designed to be constructed of commonly available items and be used as a kind of receiver of last resort, these radios looked like real challenge
So why did I decide to experiment with these simple radios? When I saw this article, I wanted to understand how the radio worked, and what kind of reception you could get with these simple radios, I wanted to understand how men in fox holes used these radio
When was the Fox Hole Radio Concept developed? The earliest reference I could find was from Modern Electics Magazine January 1909
The Concept of the Novel Detector came up again during WWII with Fox Hole Radios, Radio-craft September 1944 Published an article referencing submissions by 2 GIs that utilized the Novel Detector in 2 Fox Hole Radios
