Frances Elizabeth “Betty” Rockey, 83, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor, and a resident of Reger Avenue in Buckhannon, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born June 26, 1919, in Indiana, Pa., the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary E. Stuart Rising.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Schenley Jay “S.J.” Rockey.
Surviving are two daughters, Jean Bohan and husband, Jack, of Washington and Jane White and husband, Dick, of Buckhannon; one son, Bill Rockey and wife, Jane, of Buckhannon; eight grandchildren, Mike Bohan and wife, Missy, of Elkview, Michelle Bohan of Westerville, Ohio, Melissa Bohan Fowler and husband, Jeff, of Columbus, Ohio, Vicki White McBane and husband, Don, of Snow Camp, N.C., and Julie White, Steven White, Beth Rockey and Seth Rockey, all of Buckhannon; two great-granddaughters, Taylor Bohan and Hannah Fowler; two brothers, Bob Rising, Indiana, Pa., and Don Rising, Calumet City, Ill.; and one sister, Dorie Benamati and husband, Bert, of Penn Run, Pa.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mrs. Rockey was a homemaker and attended the Chapel Hill United Methodist of Buckhannon and was a member of the Tennerton United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Gary Stackpole will officiate and interment will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. The Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel of Buckhannon is in charge of arrangements for Frances Elizabeth “Betty” Rockey.
