Freda Kathryn ‘Kate’ Pastine Currence 1929-2018 Obituary
Freda Kathryn ‘Kate’ Pastine Currence, 89, a resident of Cassity, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at her home in Cassity. She’d been in her usual health and death was unexpected.
She was born Friday, January 25, 1929, to the late Toney and Annie Miller Pastine at Cassity, WV. On September 9, 1950, she married Daultin Argel Currence who preceded her in death on June 16, 2011. They had celebrated 60 years of marriage.
She is survived by four children, Kenneth Currence; Beverly Wine; Cynthia Jividen and husband Jody; Kevin Currence and wife Bonnie, all of Cassity. Ten grandchildren, Jason Currence and wife, Danielle; Krista Currence; Charlie Wine Jr; Jeremy Hamrick and fiancé, Wendy Collins; Justin Hamrick and companion, Charity Taylor; Alison Swecker and husband Chanc; Karah Currence; Khristopher Currence and fiancé Trinity Lowther ; Keith Currence and wife, Aissa and Keian Currence. Four step-grandchildren, Nicole Keeler and husband Bob; Rodney Heckler; Hope Poling and husband Scott; Elizabeth Jividen and companion Nate Torres. Seven great-grandchildren: Rozalyn, Alec, Layne, Avery, Harper, Ellie, and Adelyn. Ten step great-grandchildren: Hailey, Cassia, Gage, Kenah, Keyon, Taylor, Ellie, Gabriel, Olivia and Conor and one step great-great grandchild: Cyrus. One sister, Virginia Zirkle of Mabie. Two sisters in law, Zella Pastine and Kay Hinkle and husband, Gray. One brother in law, Douglas Currence and wife Donna.
She was preceded in death by one daughter in law, Virginia Currence; one grandson, Kevin “Kevy” Currence; five brothers Russell, Richard, Stanley, Charlie, and Paul Pastine and four sisters Leona Dumire, Clara Ward, Louise Pastine, and Joan Currence.
Kate was a homemaker who loved baking bread and making homemade macaroni. She was an avid bingo player who never missed the chance to yell “bingo!”. As a loving devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother she was protective and loving of her family with a fierceness that will be missed. She took pride in residing in the home in which she was born. She was a member of the Cassity United Methodist church.
Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Wednesday from 5P-8P. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday, August 30, 2018, at 1:00 PM. Pastor Stella Faye Moyer will officiate and interment will follow in Upper Rowan Cemetery in Mabie.
