George W. Fridley, 66, of Route 1, Volga, and a former resident of Century No. 2, passed away at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following an extended illness.
He was born March 24, 1936, in Barbour County, a son of the late Clayton and Flora (Anderson) Fridley.
Surviving are three daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy Fridley, Century No. 2, Brenda and husband, David Richard, Belington, and Melissa Fridley, Century, No. 2; three sons and one daughter-in-law, George and wife, Christine, Fridley, Moatsville, Justin Fridley, Philippi, and Ronnie Wolfe, Grafton; one sister and brother-in-law, Wilda and husband, Carl Lanham, Galloway; one brother and sister-in-law, James and wife, Harriett Fridley, Century No. 2; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Wesley Fridley; and one sister, Roselee Fridley.
He retired as a roof bolter from P. & P. Coal Company. He was a member of Joseph Chapel Church.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi after 4 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Randy Swiger officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
