Georgia Virginia Schoonover Wingfield 1918-2010 Obituary
Georgia Virginia Schoonover Wingfield, age 91 years, a resident of Elkins, WV, where she had made her home with her daughter, Deana Drain, and husband, Robert since 2000, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday evening January 31, 2010 at the Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Thursday, July 4, 1918 at Elkins, a daughter of the late Albert Schoonover and Bertha Kyle Schoonover. She was twice married. First, she was married to John Iseli on August 28, 1935, and he preceded her in death on August 3, 1953. Second, she was married to Oliver Leroy Wingfield on July 21, 1954, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2002.
Surviving her are two sons, Leroy Wingfield, Jr. and wife, Susan, and Richard Iseli and wife, Nancy, all of Elkins, two daughters, Clara Johnson and husband, Kemp, North Carolina, and Deana Drain, and husband, Robert, Elkins, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding her in death were eight brothers, Clarence, Freeman, Earnest, Oliver, Roy, Tom, William, and Marvin, and one sister, Cleo Varner. Georgia was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She attended the schools at Chenoweth Creek, was a homemaker, and was always actively involved her local church community.
Graveside services will be held at Elkins Memorial Gardens (formerly the I.O.O.F. Cemetery) on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 2 PM. Pastor Curlie Ray, Jr, Reverend Roger L. Foster, Reverend A. H. Belt, and Reverend Robert L. Lowther will officiate and interment will follow. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the New Era Christian School, Rt. #3, Box 450, Elkins, WV 26241.
