Grover Alfred Watson, 72, a resident of Parsons, passed from this life on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Monday, January 22, 1940 at Glen Jean, a son of the late Grover Alfred Watson, Sr. and Catherine Louise Higginbotham. On November 10, 1988 at Oakland , MD , he married the former Barbara Ann Summerfield, who survives. Grover is survived by eight children, Paula Lowther and husband, Donald, of the Rosendorf Community, Rebecca Joseph of Thornton, Tracy Ludwig of Charlotte, NC, Willie Haddix and wife, Brenda, of Parsons, Bo Haddix of Ocala, FL, Patty Fulton and husband, Michael, of Parsons, Melissa Edwards and husband, Dewayne, of Parsons, and Thomas Summerfield of Davis, five siblings, Jimmy Watson of Oak Hill, Flora Mae Evans and husband, Jim, of Baltimore, MD, Paul Watson of Oak Hill, Jonny Watson and wife, Diane, of St. Albans, and Betty Chiaverini and husband, Dad, of Pittsburgh, PA, fifteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Grover in death was one brother, Charles Watson, and two grandchildren. Grover attended the schools of Fayette County , and he worked for the Department of Energy at EG&G in Morgantown where he, as a Tech II, experimented with coal technologies. After retiring from EG&G, he delivered The Inter-mountain, faithfully and determined, driving over one hundred miles per day until his recent illness. He liked to fish, but his real passion was working with wood. Visitation will be held at the Summerfield Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 11AM. Interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
