I bought this originaly for use with rough grinding wood carving knives and it worked well for that purpose, if I had a knife that was in bad shape or a knife that needed the blade reshaped
But how many wood carving knives do I need? I keep a bout a dozen on hand, but after rough sharpening them and then fine sharpening them, there is no need to go back to the grinder, so it was a limited use tool for woodcarving knife sharpening
So now its just a utility grinder, I use it about as much as I use my 8 inch bench grinder, and it works fine for rough grinding woodcarving knives and for general utility grinding
