Harold V. Dettinburn 1921-2003 Obituary
Harold V. Dettinburn, 81, of Petersburg, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at the grant County Nursing Home.
Born September 25, 1921, in Forman, he was the son of Roy V. Dettinburn and Charlotte (Secrist) Dettinburn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin sister, Hazel Sirbaugh.
Harold and his wife, Elizabeth owned and operated Dettinburn Trucking in Petersburg, for over 40 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the European Theatre.
He was a member of the Potomac Highlands V.F.W. Post 78. He was also a member of the Corner United Methodist Church.
Harold is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (Feaster) Dettinburn; one son, Robert V. Dettinburn of Cabins; two daughters, Rhonda Kay Dettinburn of Petersburg and Charlotte D. Stonestreet of Petersburg; two sisters, Evelyn Rotruck of Keyser and Glenna Brown of Keyser; four grandchildren, Tamara K. Sites of Lahmansville, Monica D. Fortino of Keyser, Robert V. Dettinburn II of Cumberland, Maryland and Nicole A Stratton of Cumberland; and three great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Gerstell and the Rev. Stanley Kile, officiating.
Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Veteran Organizations of Grant county and the JROTC.
