Hartsell F. Channell, 90, of Warren, Ohio, and formerly of Norton, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at his residence following a short illness.
He was born Feb. 4, 1912, at Valley Head, a son of the late Spencer Channell and Eva J. Arbogast.
On Aug. 26, 1944, he married the former Icy Ruth Herron, who preceded him in death on March 4, 1988.
Surviving are six daughters, Norma J. Beck, Brookfield, Ohio, Patricia Joyce Rutherford, Windham, Ohio, Icie Ruth Click, Champion, Ohio, Carol J. Berkenstock, Warren, Ohio, Julie A. Enderton, Warren, Ohio, and Roberta J. Guerriero, Youngstown, Ohio; two sons, Ronald D. Channell and Roger H. Channell, both of Warren, Ohio; one sister, Alma Shaffer, Valley Head; 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Lula and Lulabelle; six brothers, four sisters and one grandson.
Mr. Channell was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He worked for Standard Transformer as an assembler and retired after 22 years in 1974.
Friends will be received at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home in Warren, Ohio, today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Champion Twp. Cemetery in Warren, Ohio.
