Herbert Kermit Wilson 1914-2003 Obituary
Herbert Kermit Wilson, 89, a resident of Hambleton, departed this life Saturday morning, Aug. 2, 2003, at his home. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to an aneurysm.
He was born April 28, 1914, at Parsons, a son of the late Clarence Wilson and Clara Pennington Wilson.
He was twice married, first to the former Hardena Humphrey and then to the former Woneda Kerner, both having preceded him in death.
Surviving are five daughters, Joan Wilson Meade of Boone County, Louise “Sissie” Baulderstone and husband, Keith, of Painesville, Ohio, Minnie Thomas Sponaugle and husband, Robert, of Parsons, Lulu Mary Wilson and Martha Jo Wilson, both of Hambleton; two sisters, Hazel Poling and husband, Gaston, and Francis “Pete” Mason, all of Fork Mt., Parsons; one son, Howard Lee Thomas; 10 grandchildren, Willard Wilson, Martha Jo Gardner, Joyce E. Carr Walch, Randy G. Way, Crystal Thomas, Herbert Thomas, Bailey Thomas, Fallon and Katelyn Sponaugle and Destaney Wilson; six great-grandchildren, Cheryl Rosier, Melissa Carr, Bobby Rosier, Larry Jo Walch, Joshua Way and Natasha Way Vanik; and two great-great-grandchildren, Linnsey Marie Roy and Lara Jo Carr.
He was preceded in death by three children: two infant sons and one daughter, Margie Marie Wilson; five brothers, Fred Wilson, Howard Colett, Carl Wilson, Raymond Wilson and Bill Wilson; and seven sisters, Blanch Lazell, Louise Harper, Dessie Harper, Stella Mason, Isabelle Harper, Armitta Sponaugle and Minnie Odell.
He attended the one-room school at Fork Mountain. He served with the Civilian Conservation Corps and was an employee of the former Parsons Tannery as a leather puller for 33 years until he retired.
Funeral services were held at noon today at the Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home. Pastor Gloria Roy and Pastor William McCallister officiated and interment followed in Parsons City Cemetery. The Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Herbert Kermit Wilson.
