Hester Jeanette Zirkle Long 1928-2017 Obituary
Hester Jeanette Long, 89, of Pine Bluff passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at the United Hospital Center. She was born on December 17, 1928 in Pine Bluff, a daughter of the late Clayton and Estelle Zirkle.
Hester is survived by her 3 children, Andrew and Diane Long; Orval and Barbara Long; and Clayton (Charlie) Long, all of Pine Bluff; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 65 years, Kenneth E. Long, who passed away on July 10, 2016; a son, Harry A. Zirkle; and a brother, Thomas Zirkle.
Hester was a homemaker who loved tending to her family. She was also a farmer and a lover of all animals. Hester was an active member of the West Virginia Draft Horse and Mule Association. She loved attending county fairs and camping. Hester also was an avid gardener. She will always be remembered as a d devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend who always greeted you with open arms and a smile.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St. Shinnston, on Thursday from 4-8PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 29th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Harry Holbert officiating. Hester will be taken by horse and wagon to her interment at the Long Family Cemetery on the family farm in Pine Bluff.
