Mr. Howard N. Sproul, age 68 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born July 11, 1944 in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Leroy Sproul and the late Florence Howard Block. He was married to Sharon N. Sproul who preceded him in death. Surviving are one son, Scott Sproul and wife Jessica of Elkins, two daughters, Stephanie Sproul, Raleigh, NC and Nikki Sproul of Baltimore, MD. One brother, Calvin Sproul and one sister, Elaine Bushman, both of Baltimore, MD and grandchildren, Samantha, Andrew, Brooke and Ryan also survive. Howard was a Veteran of the United States Army from where he retired. He was a member of Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars and attended St. Brendan Catholic Church. Mr. Sproul’s remains were cremated. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 18, 2012 at St. Brendan Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF will be the celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 122 South High St., Morgantown, WV 26501 in memory of Mr. Sproul. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Howard N. Sproul.
