Howard O. Martin, 85, a lifelong resident of Mill Creek, died at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health since December.
Mr. Martin was born Aug. 30, 1916, in Valley Bend, a son of the late Jack G. and Maggie Pritt Martin.
On Sept. 18, 1946, he married the former Gladys Katherine Taylor, who survives in Mill Creek.
Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Lou Martin and Shirley Ann Martin, both of Mill Creek; four sons, Howard Lee Martin, Rick Martin and wife, Brenda, Bobby Carson Martin and Harold Lee Martin, all of Mill Creek; four sisters, Miller Bailor, Alpha Currence, Caroline Gear and Sue Poling, all of Mill Creek; four brothers, John Martin, Joe Martin, Delmar Martin and Nip Martin, all of Mill Creek; 13 grandchildren, a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Ann Martin; and two sisters, Orpha McGee and an infant Bessie Lynn Martin.
Mr. Martin was a timber cutter and farmer. He was a Mormon by faith.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Martin Family Cemetery in Mill Creek Saturday from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, with Pastor Frank Stanley of the Valley Independent Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow. F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
