OBITUARY: HU DUANE RITTER Hu Duane Ritter, 80, of Moatsville, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at his home, following an extended illness. He was born June 30, 1932, at Moatsville, a son of the late Fredrick Paul and Pansy Pearl (Nestor) Ritter. On December 20, 1950, he married the former Beatrice Gertrude Boner, who preceded him in death on November 5, 2010. Surviving are four daughters, Donna Snider and companion, P.J., Fairmont, Deborah Hobaugh and husband, Randy, Erwin, Penn., Barbara Collins and Betty Ritter, both of Moatsville; three sons, Freddie Ritter and wife, Miranda, Jeff Ritter and wife, Rhonda, all of Moatsville, Brian Ritter and wife Robin, Glenville; four brothers, Eugene Ritter and David Ritter, both of La Plata, Md., Don Ritter, Belington and Michael Ritter, Parsons; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Ritter. Mr. Ritter was a retired equipment operator and foreman at Century Limestone and was a former employee of Elkins Limestone. He was an avid hunter and a member of the N.R.A. He enjoyed playing string music, especially the guitar and mandolin. He particularly enjoyed working on automobiles and general ”tinkering”. He was a member of the Moatsville Free Gospel Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 14, 2012, from the Moatsville Free Gospel Church. The Rev. James E. Johnson will officiate and interment will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 South Main Street, Philippi, from 4:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday and from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M. on Friday, when Mr. Ritter will be moved to the Moatsville Free Gospel Church where friends may call from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M., the funeral hour. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
