Irene A. Rowan, 82, a former resident of Mabie and a resident of Monterey, Va., passed away Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the home of her daughter, Sharon Doyle, with whom she lived with for the past six years.
She was born Oct. 31, 1919, at Coketon, Tucker County, a daughter of the late Robert and Luella Gower Johnson.
She was married to Lloyd Rowan, who preceded her in death in 1974.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Doyle, Monterey, Va.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one brother and three sisters.
Mrs. Rowan was a graduate of Coalton High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Elkins Church of the Brethren.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Saturday morning, she will be moved to Rowan Memorial Cemetery near Mabie, where graveside services will be at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jerry Ginn will officiate and interment will follow.
