The Rev. Isabella Hope Hyre, 81, of Route 1, French Creek, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at the home of her son, Maxon Hyre, under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
She was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late John “Babe” Quincy and Mary Crawford Lee.
She was united in marriage on Jan. 2, 1937, to Archie F. Hyre, who preceded her in death on June 2, 1985.
Surviving are three sons, Maxon and wife, Irene of Route 1, French Creek, Maurice and wife, Deloris of Route 1, French Creek, and Paul Hyre of Haymarket, Va.; seven grandchildren, Brenda Alderman, French Creek, Cheryl Howes, French Creek, Steven Michael Hyre, Buckhannon, Sandy Fealy, Buckhannon, Randall Hyre, Buckhannon, Bethany Hyre, Haymarket, Va., and Toni Hyre of Morgantown; 12 great-grandchildren, three brothers, the Rev. Owen Lee of Buckhannon, Berlin Lee of Salem Ridge, and Robert Lee of Lewis County; two sisters, Martha Young of French Creek, and Maxine Canter of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Oval O’Dell Lee, Orlando Lee and an infant brother; four sisters, Donice Golden, Dolly Hardman, Agnes Marsh and Madeline Lee.
The Rev. Hyre was pastor of the Lighthouse Church on the Alexander Road, involved in Foreign Mission Work and a dedicated Christian.
Friends will be received today from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel. Services will be Saturday at the Lighthouse Church on the Alexander Road, where she will lie in state from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. David Brown and the Rev. Don Elmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
