James C. “Jimmie” Brown, 64, of Route 1, Beverly, the East Dailey community, died at 10:10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, in Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Route 33, east of Seneca Rocks.
Mr. Brown was born May 25, 1937, in Riverton, a son of the late James C. Brown Sr. and Minnie Warner Brown.
On April 10, 1964, in Starke, Fla., he married the former Sandra S. Sheets, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dustin A. Brown, East Dailey; two daughters, Rhonda S. Norman, MacClenny, Fla., and Ginger L. Mitchell, Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Bond Dove, Riverton; and three grandchildren, Daniel C. O’Brien and Loni J. Norman, both of MacClenny, Fla., and Amanda Mitchell, Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jennings Bryant “Tom” Brown.
Mr. Brown attended the schools of Pendleton County. He was a graduate of Circleville High School and a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in forestry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a union truck driver, having worked in Jacksonville, Fla., and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Private graveside services will be at Dolly Cemetery on Horse Ridge Road near Riverton with the Rev. Walter H. Blough officiating. Interment will follow. Lohr-barb-vance Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
