James Felix Cook 1935-2003 Obituary
James Felix Cook, 68, of Elkins, departed this life Sunday morning, Aug. 24, 2003, while traveling with his wife in Tucker County. Death was attributed to cardiac arrest.
He was born Wednesday, Feb. 14, 1935, at Wymer, the son of the late James Cook and Vernie Tingler Cook.
On Oct. 7, 1961, at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Annabelle Lambert, who survives. They celebrated 41 years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Jim “Sonny” Cook and wife Leanette, of Elkins; one grandson, Joshua Cook; one granddaughter, Samantha Cook; seven brothers, Roy Cook of Cleveland, Ohio, Joe Cook of Wheeling, Paul Cook of Canton, Ohio, Gene Cook of Elkins, George Cook of Beverly, Howard Cook of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Jerry Cook of Alaska; and one sister, Ina Cook of Wymer.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were three brothers, Emmett, Ernest and Jack Cook; and two sisters, Edna Fleming and Hazel Lambert.
Mr. Cook attended the schools of Randolph County and was a logger from 1964 until his retirement in 2001. He was the owner and operator of Jaco Trucking where he contracted for several local sawmills and for the past year for the J.F. Allen Co.
He was awarded the Logger of the Year award during 1982.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Terry Cannon will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
