James L. Shaffer, 68, of 13 Lower Drive, Buckhannon, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at his home in Buckhannon.
Mr. Shaffer was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Left Hand, a son of the late Lemuel F. Shaffer and Pauline Carper Shaffer.
On March 10, 1971, he married Peggy Hyre Shaffer, who survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Jennifer and husband, Ben Powers and Melissa Shaffer, all of Buckhannon, Paula and husband Jeff Groves, Wadworths, Ohio, and Virginia and husband, Steve Brandis, Mesa, Ariz.; two stepsons, Harry and wife, Jan Craig, Buckhannon, and Jeff Craig, Petersburg; one step daughter, Debra and husband, Chris Wallace, Medfield, Mass.; one brother, John Shaffer, Arizona; two sisters, Jackee Campailla, Mogadora, Ohio, and Sue Taylor, Akron, Ohio; one special aunt, Mary Osborn, Bradenton, Fla.; one special nephew, David Campailla, Ohio; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Pam Jones; and one stepdaughter, Janie Craig.
Mr. Shaffer was a machinist for Moore Business Forms. He was a member of the NRA and former member of Brassmasters Pistol Club. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Interment will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
