James Vernon “Jimmy” Beavers, age 60, of Buckhannon, died Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born in Richwood, WV on April 29, 1961, a son of the late Vernon Denzil and Virginia Ann Amick Beavers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepmother Katherine Beavers; one brother Edward Beavers; and one sister Denise K. Moul. He is survived by two sisters: Betty Ann Beavers, address unknown, and Catherine Sue Vandall and husband Mark of Rainelle; three aunts: Mary Vance and husband Jeff of Richwood, Bonnie Bess of Richwood, and Dreama Salinas and husband Raul of Universal City, TX; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and countless friends and neighbors. In his declining health, he was cared for by his dear friend Lea Smarr and her family.

Jimmy graduated high school in Maryland, where he enjoyed singing in the choir, especially at the White House for President Carter. He spent several years as a landscaper on golf courses in Florida, and was a talented mechanic. After moving back to West Virginia, he became a caregiver to Grace McCray and was soon adopted as one of their family, and has remained like a brother to them since.

The body was cremated and private graveside services will be held at the Mount Baptist Church Cemetery at Carl, WV at a later date.
