Jesse Lee Shreve, Sr., age 69, passed from this life Thursday afternoon, May 3, 2012, at his residence in Beverly. His passing was attributed to complications from diabetes. Jesse was born Thursday, October 15, 1942 in Beverly to the late Carl Edward Shreve and Iva Opal Arbogast Shreve. He attended the schools of Randolph County. On December 12, 2011, he was married to the former Debra Ware who survives. Having lived and worked in Randolph County most of his life, Jesse worked at many different jobs including hayfields, construction, saw mills, and Labcraft, and for nineteen years, he owned and operated Jesse’s Carpet and Floorcovering in Elkins. Jesse will be especially remembered for his kind heart, and his love for spending time with his family, who meant the world to him, and his many friends. He also loved his little dogs, Mariah, Jasper, and Lacy. In his younger years, Jesse was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, ginseng, dig ramps, and attend auctions of any kind. He also enjoyed playing bingo, going to flea markets, spending time at the beach, and travel. He was a talented musician playing the piano and nearly every stringed instrument and even made his own mandolin. Left to cherish Jesse’s memory are four children, Savannah Marstiller and husband Nick of Elkins, Jesse Shreve Jr. and fiancee Elisha Barkley of Beverly, Lola Shreve and fiancee Rocky Wyatt of Beverly, Caleb Shreve and fiancee Mandy Haderman of Junior; two step-children, Chad Bennett and wife Heather of Beverly, Danielle Bennett and fiancee Kenny Vance of Elkins; six grandchildren, Derek Shreve and finacee, Taran Howell, Jesse Shreve III, Katie Shreve, Kelci Sublett, Garrett Marstiller, Jasmine Shreve; two step-grandchildren, Grant and Alexus Bennett; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Kayden Shreve; one brother, Odell Shreve; two sisters, Shirley Shreve-roy and husband Allan “Buss” of Elkins, Millie Shreve-phillips of Beverly; three brothers-in-law, Ronald Bosley of Beverly, Paul “Butch” Fansler of Piketon, OH., and Phil Ware of Tucson, AZ; one sister-in-law Pam Ware and fiancee, Doug Conrad of Beverly; mother-in-law Pearl Mallow and fiancee, Dave Kesling of Huttonsville; father-in-law Murrill Ware of Elkins; two uncles, Warren Shreve of Elkins, and Virgil “Dick” Arbogast of Palm Springs, CA; two nieces, Dixie Bosley-west and husband Bob of Beverly, and Tonya Shreve-summerfield of Charleston; two step nieces, Jessica and Megan Ware of Elkins; four nephews, Dean Roy and wife, Vida of Lost Creek, Eric Fansler of Piketon OH, Odie Shreve and wife Valerie of Beverly, Ronnie Bosley of Beverly; two step nephews, Nathaniel and Anthony Ware of Elkins; and several great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Jesse in death was one brother (Infant) Carl Edward Shreve Jr.; three sisters (Infant) Betty Jo Shreve, Edna Shreve-bosley, Barbara “Bobbi” Shreve-fansler; one sister-in-law Elsie Stalnaker-shreve; one brother-in-law Gary Phillips; one grandson Dillon Marstiller; and twelve uncles, Clarence, Willis, Elijah, and Lawrence Arbogast, and Dale, Ronald, Harold, Virgil, Dorsey, Clarence, Clyde, and Thurman Shreve. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Curlie Ray, Jr. will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
