Joan Williams Toms, 80, a resident of Valley Bend for 56 years and for the past 2 years resided at the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center departed this life on Monday December 20, 2010. She was born Friday June 20,1930 at Fork Ridge, Pickens, WV.Joan was a daughter of the late Oliver, Sr. and Myrtle Reynolds Williams. She was married to Paul “Bub” Toms on Thursday March 13, 1952, who preceded her in death on Monday July 31, 1989. She is survived by one daughter: Paula Poling and husband Andy of Huttonsville; one son: Michael Toms and wife Belinda of Huttonsville; five grandchildren: Becky Corley and husband Todd of Huttonsville, Jamie Poling and wife Leah of Morgantown, Jeff Poling and wife Brandy of Morgantown, Stephanie Toms and fiance Andrew Pritt of Hillsboro, WV and Chelsey Toms of Huttonsville; six great-grandchildren: Josiah Corley, Jessie Corley, Emilee Poling, Jada Poling, Abigail Poling and Bailee Poling and one brother: Oliver Williams and wife Jeanne of East Dailey. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Edward and Robert Williams and two sisters: Edna Hamilton and June Winkler Tacy. Joan was a graduate of Pickens High School and retired from Memorial General Hospital after many years as a receptionist for many of the physicians. Joan was a member of the Valley Bend United Methodist Church and had attended Faith Baptist Chapel before her illness. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon Tuesday December 28, 2010 at The Randolph Funeral home and Cremation Services. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday December 28, 2010 at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Pickens Cemetery at Pickens, WV.
