Joe Marsh, 88, a resident of Rosewood Nursing Center, Grafton, and a former resident of Nestorville community, Nestorville, passed away Monday, March 11, 2002, in Rosewood Nursing Center.
He was born Nov. 9, 1913, at Nestorville, a son of the late Frank and Florence Shaffer Marsh.
His wife of 56 years, Wilma Jean Moore Marsh, survives at 411 Maple Ave., Philippi.
Also surviving are seven daughters and five sons-in-law, Bo and husband, Karl Bennett, Philippi, Mescal and husband, Kenneth Laulis, Belington, Dolly and husband, Mike Isner, Philippi, Rita and husband, Guy Jones, Waynesburg, Pa., Susan and husband, Steve Jones, Buckhannon, Judy Marsh and JoAnn Marsh, both of Philippi; six sons and five daughters-in-law, Kenneth and wife, Judy Marsh, Belington, Butch and wife, Sandy Marsh, and Tommy and wife, Kim Marsh, all of Philippi, Ethan Allen and wife, Cathy Marsh, Moatsville, Ray and wife, Shelia Marsh, and Keith Marsh, all of Philippi; 32 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Marsh was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers, twin sisters, Vergie Marsh and Mrs. Howard (Dessie) Haller; twin brother and sister, Ellis Marsh and Mrs. Maynard (Otis) Johnson; Mrs. Marsh’s twin brother, Fred Marsh, Bertie Phillips and Oliver Marsh; one daughter-in-law, Linda Marsh; and one stepgrandson, Jack Laulis.
Mr. Marsh live all his life in Barbour County until recently. He was a farmer, painter and tree trimmer. He last attended Silent Grove Church.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, today after 2 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Valley Furnace.
