John Burkett Osburn 1926-2002 Obituary
John Burkett Osburn, 75, of Route 2, Box 150, Buckhannon, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at his home in Buckhannon.
Mr. Osburn was born May 17, 1926, in Upshur County, a son of the late Benjamin and Madge A. Shipman Osburn.
On July 12, 1948, he married Gloria Jean Morris Osburn, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, John Wayne Osburn, Buckhannon; three daughters, Judie Black and husband, John, Buckhannon, Karen Cobb and husband, Junior, French Creek, and Anna Lou Scott and husband, Richard, Loxahatchee, Fla.; one sister, Alta Holden, Buckhannon; three brothers, Harrison Orsburn, Tallmansville, Junior Orsburn, Buckhannon, and Earl Orsburn, Clarksburg; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie McCartney and Juanita Osburn; one brother, Ralph Orsburn; and one grandson, Matthew David Black.
Mr. Osburn was an auto mechanic for LL Moss. He served in the Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart while in Germany.
He attended Sand Run Baptist Church.
Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Graveside services will be at Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Morris and the Rev.
Donald Butcher officiating. Interment will follow. Buckhannon VFW Post 3663 and Frank B. Bartlett Post 7, American Legion will conduct military honors at the graveside.
