John Howard Lantz 1938-2012 Obituary
John Howard Lantz, age 73 of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV. He was born August 21, 1938 in Randolph Co. a son of the late Howard Riley and Mary Olive Knotts Lantz. On June 11, 1961 he married Mary B. Harlow who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Milenda Lantz and one son, Daniel Lantz both of Buckhannon; two sisters, Alma Marcho of Philippi, WV and Barbara Bragg and husband Roy of Belington, WV; one brother, Jim Lantz of Springfield, VA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother William Lantz. Mr. Lantz was an auto mechanic, a member of the Adrian United Methodist Church and attended Faith Baptist Church. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a past commander for the DAV Chapter #5, past president of the Mountain State Transmitters and he was an avid gardener. Friends will be received Friday, February 10, 2012 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Davis and the Rev. Nancy Killingsworth officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hinkleville, WV. VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion, DAV Chapters #5 and #36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
