JOHN LEE SWICK John Lee Swick, 76, of Hacker Creek Road, Philippi, died Friday, April 27, 2012, in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, following a brief illness. He was born January 25, 1936, at Philippi, a son of the late Elden Lee and Virgie Bell (Fridley) Swick. Surviving are three sisters, Betty Jean Swiger, Webster Community, Martha McLean, Philippi and Rosa Lee Stemple; one brother, Lawrence L. Swick and wife, Pauline, Philippi; a special friend, Kathy Jones Trimble, Philippi; Mrs. Trimble’s grandchildren, who called John their adopted grandfather and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a niece, Debbie McLean Phillips and by three nephews, Lawrence Swick Jr., William Swick and Tim Baker. Mr. Swick was a retired farm hand. He was a member of the Green Valley Community Church. He especially enjoyed music, visiting nursing homes, telling stories and attending church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 30, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home. The Rev. Shirley Webster and the Rev. Howard Swick will officiate and interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Friends may call from at the funeral home from 2:00until 9:00 P.M. on Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. , the funeral hour on Monday.
