John Lewis Price, 71, of Railroad Ave., Junior, died Monday, November 30, at his home, following an extended illness. He was born July 22, 1938, at Philippi, a son of the late William Henry and Pearl (Phillips) Price. On June 27, 1973, he married the former Helen Blanche Thorne, who survives at their home in Junior. Also surviving are two daughters, Tammy Lynn Price, Bridgeport, Julie E. Price, at home; two grandchildren, Ashley McCall and husband, Jason and Tyler Kline; two great grandchildren, Connor Jonathan Scott Howell and Ellie June McCall; one brother, Robert L. Price, Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Phillips, Akron, Oh., Shirley, Keener, Tampa. He was also preceded in death by one son, John Lewis “Bub” Price Jr., and by four sisters, Mary Golden and three infant sisters and by seven brothers, James, Junior Paul, Joe, Norman, Arthur, William and Russell Price. Mr. Price was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a retired coal miner and former truck driver. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. District #31 and was Protestant by faith. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 4, from the Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Avenue, Belington. The Rev Rick Price will officiate and interment will follow in the Belington Fraternal Cemetery. Barbour County Post #44, American Legion and personnel from the W.Va. ARNG Military Honor Guard will provide grave side military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Friday. The Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
