John R. Ward Jr. 1924-2003 Obituary
John Ruskin Ward Jr. 79, of Route 1, Volga, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at his home under the care of hospice.
He was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Barbour County, the son of the late John Ruskin Ward Sr. and Edna Mabel Stalnaker Ward.
On March 8, 1952, he was united in marriage to Virginia Smith Ward, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Butch (Bernadine) Jack of Route 4, Buckhannon; and one son, John R. Ward III of Route 1, Volga.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Ward Harrison; and one grandson.
Mr. Ward served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a Methodist by faith.
According to Mr. Ward’s wishes, there will be no services. The Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
