John Wilson Campbell, 90, a resident of Route 6, Buckhannon, the Tennerton community, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at the Holbrook Nursing Home.
He was born March 21, 1912, in Pocahontas County, the son of the late James A. and Dicey B. Dawson Campbell.
On April 25, 1936, he was married to Verma Tenney Campbell, who survives.
Surviving are two sons, Steven Campbell, Hixson, Tenn., and Mike Campbell, Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Jonathon, Andrew, Alex and Evan; and two brothers, Winters Campbell, Rock Cave, and Carus Campbell, Buckhannon.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Anderson and Eva Bischoff; and four brothers, Elmer, Bill, Sterling and Howard Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was a 50-year member of the Buckhannon Church of Christ and had been employed at West Virginia Wesleyan College and the West Virginia Department of Highways.
Mr. Campbell was an avid outdoorsman and loved gardening.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Evangelist Darrell Toothman will officiate and interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
