Evangelist Joseph Ross Bass, 71, of 303 Byrd St., died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral was conducted at White Oak Freewill Baptist Church Dec. 18 by the Rev. Bobby Carden. Burial was in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Lewis-bowen Funeral Home of Bladenboro, N.C.
Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, Miriam Fancher Bass, of the home; four daughters, Barbara Bryan and Patricia McKnight, both of Bladenboro, N.C., Freda McLean of Florida, and Sue Coward of Welcome, N.C.; two sons, Joseph Bass of Darlington, S.C., and Albert D. Bass of Chadbourn, N.C.; one sister, Evelyn Sykes of Clarkton, N.C.; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family received friends at the church on Dec. 17.
