Josephine “Jo” Sharp, 72, of Mingo, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at her home. She had been in failinghealth for the past five years.

She was born on January 8, 1929, the daughter of William Ambrose Sage and Edna Hartley Sage.

On December 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to Andy Sharp, who survives.

Other survivors are one son, Rick A. Sharp, of Mingo; a foster son, Virgil Moore, of Mingo; two sisters,Madaline Honeycutt, of Landover Hills, Maryland, and Shirley Daft, of Valley Head; two grandchildren;one step granddaughter; and two foster granddaughters. Preceding her in death were her parents; foursisters, Maggie Hannah, Martha Tumblin, Mary Phillips, and Denna Foreback; and four brothers, Russell, Cecil, Ray, and Glen Sage. Mrs. Sharp was a graduate of Marlinton High School and an employee ofthe Randolph County Schools as secretary at the Valley Head School until retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Cass Chapter No. 124 OES, Osisi Shriner Temple of Wheeling, Tygarts Valley Ladies Shrine Club, Upper Valley Ruritan Club, Upper Valley Recreational Authority. She attended the Point Mountain Church and played the guitar sang with her husband in churches in Randolph and other counties.

Friends will be received at the Mingo Presbyterian Church on Thursday after 6 p.m. The funeral will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Mingo Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Marshall Williams, David Slawter, David Rice, and Ralph Summerfield officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mingo Cemetery.
