Joyce Ann Gumm, age 86 years, a resident of Mill Creek passed away Monday, October 19, 2020 at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center.
She was born September 27, 1934 at Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Eva Scott Phares.
In 1957 at Mill Creek, she was united in marriage to Junior Maxwell Gumm who preceded her in death December 31, 1976.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth Gumm and wife Denise of Valley Bend, one sister, Jane Howell & husband Dennis of Elkins, three grandchildren, Rebecca Tunney and husband Joseph, Vanessa Foley and husband Greg, Kevin Gumm and companion Skylar Trammel and four great grandchildren, A. J. Friedman, Ava and Silas Tunney and Kendall Foley. Two nephews, Michael Phares of St. Albans and Scott Howell of Bridgeport and several great nieces and great nephews also survive. Also preceding her in death was one son, Mark Gumm, one brother, Robert Phares, sister-in-law Judith Phares and great granddaughter, Cora Diane Foley.
Joyce was a graduate of Tygart Valley High and had retired from Huttonsville Correctional Center.
She was a Methodist by faith and a former member of Randolph Chapter No. 74, Order of the Eastern Star.
Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 23rd from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Danny Linger officiating. Interment will follow in the Gilman Cemetery near Elkins. Masks and social distancing will be required for anyone attending the services for Mrs. Gumm. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of their own choice in member of Joyce. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Joyce Ann Gumm.
