Joyce Freeman 1949-2021 Obituary
Joyce Freeman, age 72, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born April 25, 1949 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Stephen and Melva Miles Lesondak. On March 9, 1968 she married Brent Freeman who preceded her in death on March 6, 2008. She is survived by three daughters, Kristen Williams and husband Jamie of Grafton, OH, Alicia Hodges and husband Judd and Heather Hamrick and husband Matthew all of Buckhannon; four grandchildren, Benjamin Cogar of Buckhannon, Sarah Williams of Grafton, Bryce Cogar of Buckhannon and Sydney Hodges of Buckhannon; four siblings, Stephen Lesondak and wife Glenna of Hazard, KY, Lawrence Lesondak and wife Patty of Buckhannon and Lesa Evans husband Wes of Rock Cave, WV and Patrick Lesondak of Buckhannon; beloved fury grand babies; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Mrs. Freeman was a homemaker and a Baptist by Faith who attended Wayside Baptist Church. She was a four-year breast cancer survivor and spoke at events concerning breast cancer awareness. She was the President of the Brushy Fork C.E.O.’s and enjoyed doing volunteer work with them. She loved the Strawberry Festival and was the Strawberry Belle multiple years and also entered her recipes many times. She loved her church and enjoyed helping with vacation bible school and making shoeboxes for operation shoebox at Christmas for children. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Point Pleasant Church Cemetery in Abbott, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
