Judy Kay Teter 1949-2022 Obituary
Judy Kay Teter, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, with her children by her side, after a six-year battle with breast cancer.
She grew up on a farm in Ten Mile, West Virginia, with her mother, father and five siblings. Her married life was spent hunting, fishing, boating, and raising German Shorthaired Pointers with her late husband, Tom.
Pre-pandemic, Judy worked at Auto Zone in Buckhannon, where her coworkers had become her second family. She worked as a commercial sales manager but dearly missed her days on parts delivery, where she could visit her local mechanic friends. In 2020, Judy made the decision to leave work at Auto Zone to devote her time to her treatment, her family and doing what she wanted, when she wanted.
She loved Hallmark movies year-round, discussing what she would do with her Powerball winnings, despite never buying tickets, finding easy dessert hacks on Facebook, and spending time with her family and dearest friends, but especially her grandchildren.
Judy was born on Oct. 4, 1958, to Rosetta and late, Elbert “Bo” Zirkle. She was joined in marriage to the late, Tom Teter.
She is survived by two sons, Kris and wife, Amber Loughlin, and Derick and wife, Monica Loughlin; one daughter, Sasha and husband, Daryl Smart; four brothers, Bob, Dale, Jessie and Doug Zirkle; one sister, Betty Ford; and nine grandchildren, Matthew Smart, Rory Smart, Brennen Smart, Aidan Smart, Isaac Loughlin, Piper Smart, Amelia Loughlin, Liam Loughlin and Abigail Smart.
In honoring her wishes, Mrs. Teter will be cremated. Friends will be received for a memorial gathering Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home.
