Kathleen Casto Stewart, 84, of 2203 Copeland Way, Chapel Hill, N.C., died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C.
She was born March 14, 1918, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late David D. and Loretta May Lewis Casto.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Kay and husband, Kenny Bethel, Montgomery City, Mo.; one son, Clyde Stanton and wife, Sue Stewart, Chapel Hill, N.C.; three granddaughters, Sally and husband, Verus Overkamp, Montgomery City, Mo., Stephanie and husband, Kevin Green, Greenville, N.C, and Stacie and husband, Chris Warren, Hillsborough, N.C.; two grandsons, Scott Stewart, Wilmington, N.C., and Marcia Dunlap, New Florence, Mo.; two stepgranddaughters, Peggy Jaggie, New London, Mo., and Deborah Roseman, Montgomery City, Mo.; two great-granddaughters, Kaylee Warren, Hillsborough, N.C., and Sydney Green, Greenville, N.C.; one stepgreat-grandson, Justin Bethel, Troy, Mo.; one cousin, Mrs. Martha West, Buckhannon; one niece, Mrs. Warren Crummett, Midland, Mich.; several great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of friends she loved and treasured dearly.
Mrs. Stewart worked at West Virginia Wesleyan College for 22 years before retiring in 1983. Prior to this she worked for eight years at the equipment division of the State Road Commission in Buckhannon. She enjoyed singing in the choir at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon and was a member of the United Methodist Women, Friendship Sunday School Class, the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 18 of Buckhannon, Buckhannon Women’s Club, Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, West Virginia Wesleyan’s Emeritus Club and the College Club. She attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Stackpole officiating. Interment will follow at Lorentz Church Cemetery.
