Kathryn Irene Shanahan Rowan, age 73 years, a resident of Maysville, WV, passed away early Monday, August 6, 2012 in the Good Samaritan Center at Belington. She was born January 23, 1939 at Baltimore, Md., a daughter of the late John Francis and Catherine Irene Brown Shanahan. Surviving are two sons, Shane Rowan and wife Maryann of Jimtown and Steven Rowan and wife Connie of Mabie. Five daughters, Michelle Nutter and husband Todd of Jimtown, Suzette Rexrode and huband Michael of Maysville, WV, Sandra Mick and husband Dan of Weston, Stacey McCartney and husband Ronnie of Jane Lew and Amy Rowan Smith and husband Brad of Norton, three brothers, John Shanahan, Bernie Shanahan and Joe Shanahan all of Maryland, twenty three grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive. Also preceding her in death was one brother, Gene Shanahan.
Kathryn was a homemaker, a former 4-h Leader and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church at Coalton.
At the request of the deceased, her remains were cremated. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 11, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church at Coalton. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, PO Box 99, Coalton, WV 26257 or the Good Samaritan Center, RR 3, Box 15 C, Belington, WV 26250 in memory of Kathryn. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Kathryn Irene Shanahan Rowan.
