Kenneth B. “Kenny” Pomp, age 74 years, a resident of the Harding community, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at his home. He was in his usual health and death was unexpected. He was born December 30, 1945 at Coalton, a son of the late Robert C. and Georgia Jackson Pomp. He was formerly married to Teresa E. Davis Pomp who survives. Also surviving is one son, Jonathan A. Pomp and wife Lindsay of Morgantown, one daughter, Samantha Lee Gibson of Elkins, one sister, Kathy Beahm of Elkins and one granddaughter, Callie Shae Pomp. Also surviving is one aunt, Marie Teter, two nieces, Natasha Pingley and Presley Douglas, two nephews, Travis and Joshua Pomp, three great nephews, Cody, Chase and Bishop, one great niece, Jozlynn and many cousins. Kenny had two grandpups, Saydee and Harper that he loved so; they will miss him dearly. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Gary Leon Pomp, son-in-law Wesley J. Gibson, several aunts, uncles and one great niece, Jamilah. Kenny was a graduate of Coalton High School with the Class of 1967. In his early years, he was a carpet layer for Palace Carpet with Roger Bertolini prior to employment at Davis & Elkins College. He was the Assistant Superintendent of the Maintenance and Plumbing Department at Davis & Elkins College prior to his retirement and was recognized for twenty eight years of dedicated service by the college. He was Chairman of the Norton Harding, Jimtown PSD and received West Virginia Trophy Fish Citations for Rainbow Trout and Channel Catfish. He loved to hunt and fish with his son and son-in-law and attending Mountaineer football and basketball games with his family. He was a member of the Kynette United Methodist Church where he was recognized as lay leader of the year.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, May 4, 2020 at Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Rev. Gary Phillips will officiate and interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 in memory of Kenny. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Kenneth B. “Kenny” Pomp.
