Lettie Nela Bell See, 67, a former resident of Elkins and a resident of Valley Bend for the past six months passed from this life early Wednesday morning, August 3, 2011 at her home.

She was born Wednesday, December 15, 1943 in Randolph County, a daughter of the late Martin B. Bell and Nela Mallow Bell. On February 3, 1962 at Elkins, she married Carlton G. See, who survives.

Others left to cherish Lettie’s memory are one daughter, Virginia Haynes and husband, John of Elkins, one son, Martin R. See and wife, Mary of North Carolina, four grandsons, Derek Haynes and wife, Erin of Elkins, Martin See, Jr. and wife, Jacklyn of Elkins, Alex Haynes of Elkins, and Wyatt See of North Carolina, two granddaughters, Tiffany Smith and husband, Robert and Ann See all of North Carolina, and three great grandchildren, six sisters, Nila Phillips, Joy Day, Louise Higgins, Neva Riley and husband, Alfred, all of Elkins, Wanda Wegman and husband, Sonny of Virginia, Mamion Day and husband, Earl of Ohio, three brothers, Michael Bell and wife, Lola and Ivan Bell and wife, Sandy all of Elkins, and Don Bell and wife, Loretta of Alaska.

Preceding her in death was one grandson, Jeremy Kyle Haynes and two brothers, Delano Bell and Jack Bell.

Lettie was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1962 and had worked for nearly forty years in the nursing field at Memorial General Hospital, Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, and retired from Davis Memorial Hospital in 2006.

She loved camping, being outdoors, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a Christian by faith and was a member of the Belington Church of Christ. At Lettie’s request, she is being cremated.

A memorial service will be held at the Dailey Fire Hall on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 1PM. Condolence cards may be sent to Carlton See, P.O. Box 668, Elkins, WV 26241.
