Loretta Day Hart 1927-2020 Obituary
Loretta Day Hart of Elkins departed this life at the age of 93 on Wednesday July 1, 2020 under the care of Nella’s Inc. in Elkins.
She was born on Pheasant Run in Tucker County on April 15, 1927 to the late Jay G. and Glossie Lee Ketterman Day.
On February 14, 1949 in Oakland, MD, she was married to Lee Robert “Bob” Hart a well-known carpenter who preceded her in death March 3, 2019. They had celebrated seventy years of marriage.
Also preceding her in death was one great granddaughter, Kayla Watson and four sisters, Tina Day Phillips, Twila Day Kerns Phillips, Marie Day Teter, and Lora Day Hornick.
She is survived by two daughters B. Jane (Roy) Hart Ocheltree and Patricia Lee (Ron) Hart Hyre, both of Elkins.
Four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Roger) Hyre Watson of Elkins, Dr. Mark A. (Allison) Poling of Morgantown, WV, Dr. Cynthia L. (Brett) Poling Zwolenski of Bridgeport, WV and Christina Hyre of Phoenix, AZ. Six great grandchildren, Michael, David and AJ Watson, all of Elkins, Logan Zwolensky of Bridgeport, WV and William and Maura Poling of Morgantown, WV, one great-great grandchild, Jaxon Watson of Elkins and one brother, Golden H. Day of Elkins, also survive.
Mrs. Hart worked for the G.C. Murphy Co. in Elkins for twenty five years in the yards good department.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Elkins.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
Pastor Terry Burgess will officiate. Loretta will then be laid to rest beside her husband Bob. Social distancing as well as masks will be required for those in attendance at the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Resident Activity Fund, C/o Nella’s Inc., 399 Ferguson Road, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Loretta.
