Lorraine D. Burke 1921-2021 Obituary
Mrs. Lorraine Burke, age 99 years, a resident of Bowden, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 at her home under the care of WV Caring Hospice. She was born November 9, 1921 at Elkins, a daughter of the late Adam and Julia Lantz Dahmer. She was twice married, first to Thomas Stalnaker who passed away in the Battle of Luzon, Pacific Theater 82nd Airborne during World War II. On April 22, 1947 at Buckhannon, she was married to Mark Edison Burke who preceded her in death October 1994. She is survived by two sons, Zachary “Zach” Burke and wife Dana and Thomas Stalnaker, all of Bowden; nine grandchildren, JB, Tim, Rick, Christina, Christopher, Lindsay, Becky & husband Scottie, Cory and Steve and seven great grandchildren, Ryland, Greyson, Alessa, Tucker, Landon, Grady and Reagan. Also preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband was one son, Mark Lynn Burke; two grandsons, Mark Lynn Burke, II and Tommy “Tinker” Stalnaker; daughter-in-law, Annabelle Stalnaker; one brother, Bug Dahmer and two sisters, Ruby Booth and Lori Dahmer. Lorraine was owner and operator of the Alpine Shores Campground and Alpine Lodge Restaurant prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Rivers of Living Waters Church.
Friends may call from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday with Rev. Mike Boggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery. Masks and social distancing will be required for everyone attending the services. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Mrs. Burke.
