Lula Mae (Keplinger) Shirk Tenney 1946-2022 Obituary
Lula Mae (Keplinger) Shirk Tenney, age 75 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Medstar Health Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC.
Lula was born on September 9, 1946 in Petersburg, WV and was a daughter of the late Glenn E. Keplinger and Pauline (Kimble) Keplinger. In addition to her parents, Lula was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles “Ray” Shirk in 2011; one brother, Harold Keplinger; one sister, Judy George; one niece, Kimberly George.
Lula is survived by her husband, John R. Tenney; one son, Gary E. Shirk (Tammy) of Petersburg, WV; two stepsons, Johnny Tenney (Kathy) and Jesse Tenney all of Craigsville, WV; two step daughters, Carole Rader (Jim) of Dunkirk, Ohio and Robin Tenney (O. J. Carden) of Moorefield, WV; two grandchildren, Nick Shirk (Jessica) of Keyser and Amber Sinclair (William) of Maysville, WV; one great grandson, Dawson Sinclair; seven step grandchildren, John Kerns (Melissa) of Dunkirk, Ohio, Aaron Tenney of Parkersburg, WV, Brooke Tenney of Florida, Felicia Turner (Cody) of Clarksburg, WV, Ryan Beckett of Ohio, Caden Tenney and Jordan Tenney of Washington State; two sisters, Wanda Hedrick (Ronnie) and Donna Judy (Dennis) all of Upper Tract, WV, and several nieces and nephews.
Lula loved the outdoors and enjoyed farming and gardening. She was well known for her cooking, baking, canning and sewing. Most importantly Lula was strong in her faith. She attended Elkhorn Chapel.
A Celebration of Life service will be Friday, February 25, 2022 at 1 PM at Petersburg First Baptist Church with Pastors Glenn Vance Jr., J. Shannon Earle and Frank Ketterman officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
